Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
The Gospel tells the story of Jesus and his healing power over physical
ailments as well as demonic possessions.
After a long day of healing and teaching Jesus was given time to rest with a night’s
sleep. And before the others awoke, Jesus got up “while it was still very dark… and
went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.” When he was found to be
missing, “Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they
said to him, ‘Everyone is searching for you.’”
Why were they searching for Jesus? It must have been because they saw in him
the miracle worker.
Two thousand years after this story occurred, a good question for all of us to ask
ourselves is what are we searching for?
There are many things that take up our time and energy and we often are
searching for our heart’s desires. Are we searching for Jesus Christ in our lives?
This should be our primary effort – to search for Christ, because when we find
him, it is then that we will have found true peace, joy and love.
Blessings,
