A Letter to the Parishioners of St. Mary's

Dear Fr. Liborio and parishioners of St. Mary’s

God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!

As the sun sets on my missionary mandate as Associate Pastor to you, Fr. Liborio, here
in St. Mary’s, I joyfully lift my heart in gratitude to God, to you and to each and every
parishioner of this amazing parish. Indeed, three years have passed so fast! That
notwithstanding, I cherish the privilege I have been given to proclaim God’s word to you,
administer the sacraments of salvation as well as assist your pastor in leading you
forward to our eternal destination. Having thanked God for the opportunity to serve, I
would also like to thank you all specifically for your kind welcome, vivacious liturgical
celebrations, awesome fellowship, active charity and courageous witness to Jesus
Christ. You have been my God-given family for the past three years. It is my hope that
you gained some spiritual enrichment from my brief pastoral labors.

Now that the Lord has asked me to “go on to the next towns” and proclaim the Good
News to others as well, I humbly ask for your prayers and best wishes, as I assure you
of mine too. And, if I might ask for one more favor, it will be this: Please “pray therefore
the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38). It is
Christ’s desire that we pray daily for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Do
you know why? The reason is that, by the exercise of their ministerial priesthood, priests
prolong Christ’s presence in the world, in particular when they – in the person, under the
authority of Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit – nourish and heal souls with the
sacraments of Holy Communion and Reconciliation. In fact, although the world neither
knows nor recognises it, priests are, by divine will and infinite love, vital to human life
and spiritual communion with God the Creator and Father of all mankind. Hence, I
encourage you to keep on praying for there to be more laborers in the Lord’s Vineyard.

The world needs priests!

Again, thank you dear Fr. Liborio for your kindness, gentleness, good will and, above all,
for allowing me to minister with you and under your guidance. Thank you dear
parishioners of St. Mary’s for your good wishes, prayers and tokens of appreciation.
May the gracious Lord bless and reward you abundantly both now and forever. Amen.

Carta de agradecimiento al párroco y a los feligreses de la parroquia
de Santa María

Estimado Padre Liborio y feligreses de la Iglesia de Santa María,
El Señor es bueno todo el tiempo, ¡y todo el tiempo el Señor es bueno!
Mientras se pone el sol en mi mandato misionero como pastor asociado, bajo el
liderazgo del Padre Liborio, aquí en la Iglesia de Santa María, con alegría elevo mi
corazón en agradecimiento a Dios, al Padre Liborio y a todos y cada uno de los
feligreses de esta increíble parroquia. De hecho, ¡han pasado tan rápido tres años!

No obstante, aprecio el privilegio que se me ha dado de proclamarles la palabra de
Dios, administrarles los sacramentos de la salvación y ayudar a su pastor a guiarlos
hacia nuestro destino eterno. Habiendo agradecido a Dios por la oportunidad de
servir, también me gustaría agradecerles a todos ustedes y especialmente por su
amable bienvenida, vivaces celebraciones litúrgicas, asombroso compañerismo,
caridad activa y valiente testimonio de Jesucristo. Ustedes Han sido mi familia dada
por Dios durante los últimos tres años. Espero que hayan obtenido algún
enriquecimiento espiritual de mis breves labores pastorales.

Ahora que el Señor me ha pedido que “vaya a los pueblos vecinos” y proclame la
Buena Nueva también a los demás, les pido humildemente por sus oraciones y sus
mejores deseos, como les aseguro los míos también. Y, si pudiera pedir un favor
más, sería este: Por favor, “rueguen, pues, al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a
su mies” (Mateo 9:38). Es el deseo de Cristo que oremos diariamente por las
vocaciones al sacerdocio y la vida religiosa. ¿Saben por qué? La razón es que,
mediante el ejercicio del sacerdocio ministerial, los sacerdotes prolongan la
presencia de Cristo en el mundo, en particular cuando ellos, en la persona, bajo la
autoridad de Cristo y por el poder del Espíritu Santo, nutren y curan las almas con
los sacramentos de la Sagrada Comunión y la Reconciliación. De hecho, aunque el
mundo no lo sabe ni lo reconoce, los sacerdotes son, por voluntad divina y amor
infinito, vitales para la vida humana y la comunión espiritual con Dios Creador y
Padre de toda la humanidad. Por lo tanto, los animo a que sigan orando para que
haya más obreros en la Viña del Señor. ¡El mundo necesita sacerdotes!

Nuevamente, gracias querido Padre Liborio por tu amabilidad, gentileza, buena
voluntad y, sobre todo, por permitirme ministrar contigo y bajo tu dirección. Gracias
queridos feligreses de Santa María por sus buenos deseos, oraciones y muestras
de agradecimiento. Que el misericordioso Señor les bendiga y recompense
abundantemente ahora y siempre. Amén.
