Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation

Registration for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation at St. Mary’s Parish is now open for children:

  • who have already received the Sacrament of Baptism but have not yet received the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  • who are at least in Grade Two, and if the child is ready to receive the sacrament.

[Note: We encourage parents to wait until your child is ready to receive this sacrament].

How to Register:

Registration is available online at    StMary-FirstReconciliation Fillable Form.pdf

Please fill out that fillable PDF Registration. Download, complete, and save the fillable form with your Last Name + Initial of your child’s First Name – FirstRecon.pdf [for example: SmithJ-FirstRecon.pdf] send it to sacramentprepstmaryrc@gmail.com.

You will only be registering your child for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation at this time. You need to register your child again in December for the Sacrament of First Communion.

The Sacramental Preparation programme at Saint Mary’s Parish is intended to be a faith journey to be taken together by the child/children and their parents. Candidates prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Fall or Winter. It is followed by First Communion Preparation sessions in the Winter or Spring.

Program Tracks

This year, we are offering two tracks of the Sacrament of First Reconciliation Program. During the Parents Meeting, you will be asked to decide and pick only 1 track. Please make sure that you commit to that track:

  1. In Person session which will be held in the Parish and taught by Catechists
  2. Home-Based First Reciliation Sacrament Preparation which will be taught by the parents. There will be a Coaching Session during the Parents Meeting so that the parents can do teach the kids at home. The child will only be asked to attend 2 In-Person Sessions. The First Session (Orientation Session) and the Last Session (which includes the practice for the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation).

 Parent's Meeting

There is a mandatory Parents Meeting wherein we will explain the First Reconciliation Sacramental program at St. Mary’s Parish. It will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes & Our Lady of Guadalupe Rooms. Parents do not need to register to attend the mandatory parent’s meeting. You can pick one of the two dates to attend it:

September 17, 2026 (Thursday) from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

or September 19, 2026 (Saturday) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

Please bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal certificate and the program fee of $25.00.

Mass Attendance

Since the kids are being prepared for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation (and eventually First Communion), the families are asked to make a renewed commitment to a life of faith, which includes attending Sunday Mass each Sunday as all Catholics are required to do. Parents and children are invited to make Sunday Mass as part of your family weekend commitment once again and make yourselves part of the parish community.
