RCIA Becoming a Catholic


RCIA: A Journey in Faith

Registration for R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) at St. Mary’s Parish is ongoing now. The R.C.I.A. is a process through which –

  1. Non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church.
  2. Persons who have been baptized in another Christian denomination may now wish to become a Catholic.
  3. Baptized Catholics who have not received all the Sacraments of Initiation, i.e. Confirmation and/or First Eucharist, and who are now be ready to continue the growth in their Catholic faith and experience.

You can complete the fillable PDF form and save it with your Last Name + Initial of your FirstName - RCIAregistration.pdf [for example: SmithJ-RCIAregistration.pdf] then send it to rciacypstmaryrc@gmail.com. The registration deadline is Friday, August 28, 2026.

Meetings in preparation for the RCIA sessions usually begin in September after Labour Day and end in June the following year.

RCIA Adapted for Children and Young People

This new programme at our parish is open to children from ages 7 to 16:

  1. who have not been Baptised but have reached an age where their desire is to be part of the Catholic Church.
  2. who are already baptised in another Christian denomination but would like to become Catholic.
  3. those who have passed the usual age for the sacramental programme but would like to be fully initiated into our Catholic Church. We honour the baptism that these children have received already, and we ensure that the children and their family realise the change of journey they are now taking.

 The model for older children is thus similar to the process for adults who, when they are Baptised, also are Confirmed (for those who are 12 years or older) and receive their First Holy Communion during the Easter Vigil.
